London Film Museum To Showcase Iconic Movie Images

The London Film Museum has announced that it will open a new exhibition space on April 21st, 2012. It follows on from a major redevelopment of the original Flower Cellars, which is located in the heart of Covent Garden. The opening exhibition, called Magnum on Set, will host some of the greatest photographs of the twentieth century from the iconic agency, Magnum Photos.

The exhibition will showcase 146 of some of the most familiar film images in the world, including Charlie Chaplin's Limelight; Billy Wilder's The Seven Year Itch; John Huston's Moby DICk and Nicholas Ray's Rebel Without A Cause. The exhibition, which has never been seen before in the UK, will also feature original props; scripts and costumes from a range of classic movies.

Jonathan Sands, the founder and chief executive of the London Film Museum, said: 'We are proud to be opening our latest Museum in Covent Garden together with this iconic exhibition which celebrates the careers of some of the greatest photographers of all time. We have been working closely with Capital and Counties PLC, CGAT, Westminster Council and architects KPF to build a new museum that is both creative and functional.'

The London Film Museum is the only museum of film making and history in the city. Created with the backing of film industry professionals, along with major studios, the museum also runs workshops focusing on film making and animation. The Magnum on Set exhibition will run from 21st April and 1st September 2012.
