Lisa Marie Presley - Lisa Marie Presley Backs Elvis Hologram Idea
Rocker Lisa Marie Presley has no problem with her late father returning to the stages of America as a hologram - as long as it's done tastefully.
Digital firms are now rushing to bring dead artists back from the grave as virtual performers after Dr. Dre wowed crowds at April's (12) Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California with eerie images of slain rapper Tupac Shakur.
And bosses at Core Media Group, which owns Elvis Presley's name and likeness for project development, and Digital Domain Media Group boffins, who produced the Tupac illusion, have joined forces to create a similar image of The King for a series of ambitious ventures.
And Presley's daughter loves the idea.
She tells Billboard.com, "I've been maintaining that as long as things are done tastefully, I would never have a problem with it. And thankfully we've been very much involved, so we will be formulating how it'll be coming out and everything.
"There's no definite plans yet... (but) if you want to go to the next level with that, (the image) is where you'd go. You have to stay with technology."
And she's not the only rock 'n' roll kin keen to see the dead back onstage - Jimi Hendrix's sister Janie, the president and Ceo of Experience Hendrix, has revealed she is working with London-based Musion Systems to develop a virtual Jimi Hendrix.
She states, "For us, of course, it's about keeping Jimi authentically correct. There are no absolutes at this point."
