The Marilyn Monroe-inspired pictures have so-far gone down well on social networking sites, but Tmz.com reports that Playboy honchos fear the leak could significantly damage the sales of the magazine, expected to be the year's biggest money maker despite previous issues featuring Karina Smirnoff, Pamela Anderson and Daisy Lowe. The shoot was seen as a huge investment for the magazine, who reportedly shelled out $1 million to persuade Lindsay to shoot the spread, despite continuing issues in her personal life. Playboy had reportedly asked for thousands of extra copies to be printed in anticipated of a sales boom, but ten photographs plus the cover leaked online today, bearing the watermark 'Worldmags.net' and featuring Lohan with platinum blonde hair and gold stiletto heels. The leak will be huge blow for the actress herself, who was due to unveil the shoot during an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres show next Thursday (December 15, 2011).

As mentioned, early response to the photographs have been positive, though one Twitter user named TvgmDamian was less than impressed, saying, "i know you can't "make" someone gay, but i bet Lindsay Lohan's Playboy spread can help".
