Lindsay Lohan - Lindsay Lohan's Liz And Dick gets mixed reviews
Lindsay Lohan's performance as Elizabeth Taylor in biopic 'Liz & Dick' has been dubbed both ''credible'' and unbelievable.
Lindsay Lohan's portrayal of Elizabeth Taylor in 'Liz & Dick' has received mixed reviews.
The former Disney star plays the late actress in the biopic capturing the relationship between her and husband Richard Burton, which aired on Lifetime on Sunday (25.11.12) night, and the troubled star has already been both praised and criticised on her performance.
The Guardian's US Blog believes that 26-year-old Lindsay was the perfect choice to play Taylor as they have both experienced similar lifestyles, writing: ''Substitute the name Lindsay for Liz - but keep the cigarettes, the booze, the shades, the shaky poses, the pouting and the paparazzi - and it became the life story of a different actress.
''No acting necessary: the movie was a credible rendering of the Lindsay Lohan story. She could recite the lines straight; they had their own veritas.''
However entertainment website E! Online were not convinced by Lindsay's performance, posting: ''The great Elizabeth Taylor was intoxicating and seductive, and you couldn't take her eyes off of her when she was onscreen.
''You certainly can't take your eyes off of Lohan in 'Liz & Dick', but not for the same reasons. As accurate as the costumes are and as hard as Bowler tries to be Richard Burton, Lohan will never be Taylor. And that is the bottom line.''
The Los Angeles Times compared the intimacy between Lindsay and Grant Bowler, who plays Burton, to that of 'Muppets' characters Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
They wrote: ''Unfortunately Lohan and co-star Grant Bowler have about as much sexual chemistry as Kermit and Miss Piggy and none of that couple's tenderness.''
However, Lindsay insisted to US Weekly she was ready for the role, saying: ''Everything I've gone through made me ready to play Liz.''
