Lindsay Lohan Begins 35 Days Under House Arrest
Confirming the news, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said, "She is now confined to the interior premises of her home at all times". The 'Mean Girls' star pleaded no contest to stealing the necklace from a jewellery store earlier this year. She was originally charged with felony grand theft due to the price of the necklace, but the judge reduced the charges to a misdemeanour in April. It has been reported that the sentence could be reduced down to just two weeks in all because of Lohan's good behaviour and "budgetary constraints". The judge also ordered the actress to complete 480 hours of community service but it is not clear whether she will be required to complete this under house arrest. Lohan has been in trouble with the law numerous times in recent years - she had two drunken driving arrests in 2007 and since then has spent more than eight months in substance abuse rehabilitation programs.
Lindsay Lohan was recently cast in the forthcoming crime-drama 'Gotti: Three Generations', with Al Pacino, John Travolta and Joe Pesci. The movie tells the true story of crime mob boss John Gotti and his son John Gotti JR.
