The case drew attention last year after it was reported the supermodel was seeking around $46,000 per month in child support. Pinault denied that he asked for an abortion but admitted telling Evangelista that "if she were to have a child (they) might not have a relationship". The couple are said to have had a whirlwind four month relationship though Pinault said they only saw each other for seven days, saying, "I didn't even know her very much". The supermodel's attorney William Beslow contends that Pinault is worth more than $3 billion, while his attorney calculates Evangelista's annual income at $1.8 million. One of the world's most famous models, Evangelista arrived in court around 15 minutes late, wearing a black skirt, with a floral patterned blouse and beige stiletto pumps.

The pair had son Augustin together, though Pinault has two children from a previous marriage and a third child with Hollywood actress Hayek.
