Lily Splits With Boyfriend
Singer Lily Allen has reportedly split from her boyfriend Ed Simons just week after suffering a miscarriage.
The 22-year-old had discovered she was pregnant with the Chemical Brothers star's baby just a month after they began dating.
But it has emerged that the strain of Lily's miscarriage damaged the Coupling, with Simons, 37, allegedly ending the relationship after failed attempts to recover their romance.
"They tried to make things work but couldn't," a friend told the Sun newspaper
"The miscarriage was a horrible experience for both of them - and in recent weeks the mood between them had been really strained."
The source added: "Lily is really upset things Haven't worked out for her and Ed. She had talked about settling down for good and having a family.
"But there is a big age difference and the heartbreak they had to cope with was too much too early in their relationship."
After the revelation of her pregnancy in December, Allen even said she was willing to retire in her mid-20s in order to focus on raising a family.
She told the Sun: "I've looked forward to being stable my whole life. My parents are amazing, but it has been a whirlwind upbringing.
"I have got my eye on the prize, which is having kids and getting married and cooking dinner and doing homework with my children."
The singer met the Chemical Brothers star at a concert in September 2007.
A spokesman for Lily refused to comment on the reported break-up.
