Lightspeed Champion Withdraws From Camden Crawl After Illness

Lightspeed Champion has been forced to pull out of this year's Camden Crawl after being taken ill.

The musician - real name Dev Hynes - was hospitalised in Switzerland after experiencing difficulty walking following a concert.

And the former Test Icicles member has now revealed his lengthy touring schedule since the release of his debut album Falling Off the Lavender Bridge has taken its toll on his body after a tooth infection spread throughout his body.

Writing on his blog, Hynes explained: "I got taken to hospital in Switzerland as I couldn't walk.

"We all thought it was torn ligaments in both my ankles... but it turned out an infection that had started in my tooth had slowly spread throughout my body and made its way down to my ankles, rendering them useless except for the art of excruciating pain."

His two shows at this weekend's Camden Crawl - which sees 130 acts performing across 25 venues in the north London district - have been cancelled though his upcoming shows with New York rockers We Are Scientists are still expected to go ahead.

"Everything is related though, headaches, cold sweats... fevers, loose bowels, constant tiredness... exhaustion gone into overdrive due to no immune system at all... and any little that I did have has been trying to fight this infection that's been slowly taking over my body," he added.

Hynes revealed he has been "reading Watchmen and listening to Paramore" while recuperating at his parent's house.

His next single, Galaxy of the Lost, is released on May 5th.
