The rapper first attained the top spot in 1996, with 'It Was Written' and did the same the following year, with 'The Firm.' He then went on to do it again in 1999 with 'I Am' and 'Hip Hop Is Dead' in 2007. Zac Brown Band's album was number one last week (beating Frank Ocean) but has slipped to second, with sales of 78,000. Ocean's album has been a surprise commercial hit and remains in the top five this week, at number four, with sales of 59,000. Nas' album has been getting some high praise, with New York Times noting "'Life Is Good' would probably have been among the best hip-hop albums of 1993 and, as it happens, is likely to be one of the best hip-hop albums of 2012."
The soundtrack to The Dark Knight Rises has become the first soundtrack to enter the Billboard Top 10 since Daft Punk's Tron Legacy reached number 4 back in 2011.
