Libertines Reunite On London Stage
Pete Doherty and Carl Barat performed on stage together for the first time since 2004 in London last night.
The two former Libertines united at Doherty's second performance at the Hackney Empire, billed as 'an evening with Peter Doherty'.
After performing a number of solo collaborations and Babyshambles songs, Doherty introduced his former band mate to the delight of the crowd, saying: "You've been waiting for this moment. Ladies and gentleman Mr Carlos Baratonly joking," according to the NME.
Barat then joined Doherty on stage, both dressed in dark suits with Barat sporting a trademark trilby hat.
Together they played 13 songs from The Libertines' two albums, including Time for Heroes, the Good Old Days, Don't Look Back Into the Sun and What Katie Did.
After taking a bow and heading backstage, the exiting crowd were then treated to an impromptu performance of Can't Stand Me Now from a window overlooking the street, while Doherty's girlfriend Kate Moss watched on.
One fan said: "I can't believe he [Barat] turned up! They've always been better when they play together and tonight showed that."
Doherty left the Libertines in 2004 before the release of the band's second album after his drug taking forced the group to continue without him.
Barat then disbanded the Libertines after a US tour and started Dirty Pretty Things, while Doherty continued with his band Babyshambles.
