Letterman Ties Leno
With NBC's primetime ratings fizzling last week, Jay Leno's Tonight show found itself with virtually no strong lead-in. The principal beneficiary was David Letterman's Late Show on CBS (the network with the highest Nielsen numbers), which tied Leno in the ratings in the key demographic groups, adults 18-49, adults 25-54, and adults 18-34. Leno edged out Letterman in total adults with 3.52 million to Letterman's 3.47 million. It was also the first time since Jimmy Kimmel moved to his new time slot at 11:35 p.m. that Letterman came out ahead of him, and he did so impressively, scoring double-digit percentage wins in all key demographics and beating Kimmel in total viewers 3.47 million to 2.48 million.
