Leslie Carter Dies, Aged 25: Nick, Aaron And Family Request Privacy
Leslie Carter has died, aged 25. The young singer was the sister to Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys and the singer Aaron Carter. The cause of Leslie's death is currently unknown but the New York Daily News has reported that she was in upstate New York at the time of her death. She leaves behind a husband, Mike Ashton and a daughter, Alyssa Jane Ashton, who was born in April 2011.
The Carter family released a statement, via a family spokesperson, saying "Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter and granddaughter, Leslie Carter." They added "We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time." Like her brothers, Leslie was also a singer. She signed to the Dreamworks label in 1999 and recorded an album for the label but it was never released. She did, however, have a song, 'Like Wow!' included on the Shrek soundtrack in 2001. In 2006, she formed a band named The Other Half, long with her husband (though they were not married until 2008) and other backing musicians. The band split up in 2009.
Leslie had also formally starred in the Carter family's reality TV show, House of Carters. The show followed Nick Carter and his siblings as they tried to revive their respective careers. The show ran for eight episodes in 2006.
