Les Miserables - Les Miserables Soundtrack His The Top Of U.s. Album Chart
09 January 2013The Les Miserables soundtrack has beaten Mumford & Sons' Babel to the top of the U.S. album charts by just 1,000 sales.
The release, featuring songs from the movie musical, takes the top spot on the new Billboard 200 chart with 92,000 sales, and becomes the first stage musical-turned-blockbuster soundtrack to hit number one since Mamma Mia! in 2008.
Babel jumps up six spots to number two, while Taylor Swift's Red drops to three.
American Idol winner Phillip Phillips' The World From the Side of the Moon and One Direction's Take Me Home round out the new top five.
Meanwhile, Bruno Mars scores a fifth week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with Locked Out of Heaven.
Mars keeps Rihanna's Diamonds from reclaiming the number one spot, while Taylor Swift's Trouble falls to three on the new chart.
The Lumineers' Ho Hey stays put at four and MACklemore & Lewis' Thrift Shop enters the top five at five.
