Leonard Cohen - Leonard Cohen Testifies Against Former Manager
Leonard Cohen has told a court of his terror after his former business manager allegedly bombarded him with death threats.
The Hallelujah hitmaker took the stand in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday (06Apr12) to testify against Kelley Lynch, who is on trial for allegedly violating restraining orders and harassing the star. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The singer/songwriter told how he was regularly flooded with numerous voicemail messages and lengthy emails after he fired Lynch in 2004.
He recalled, "It started with just a few now and then, but it eventually accelerated to 20 or 30 a day," and said that in one phone message, Lynch allegedly told him he "needed to be taken down and shot".
Cohen also admitted the calls have left with a "sense of alarm", adding, "It makes me feel very conscious about my surroundings. Every time I see a car slow down, I get worried."
Lynch is currently being held at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California in lieu of $25,000 (£15,625) bail.
