Leno Resumes Peacock Plucking

Jay Leno continued sprinkling barbs about his NBC bosses in his Tonight show monologue Wednesday night. Following numerous reports that the network is likely to give Leno his walking papers before his contract expires late next year, he said: T-Mobile announced yesterday they are doing away with contracts. Apparently they got the idea from NBC. (Fox News on Wednesday quoted a source close to the situation as saying, NBC would probably love it if Jay tried to get out of early because he's clearly bitter. ... But Jay wants to stay to the end, and keep peeving [sic] everyone at the network off.) Earlier in his monologue, Leno had noted that the return of NBC's The Voice had lifted the network out of the ratings basement. Monday night the primetime shows The Voice and Revolution moved NBC in the No.2 position, he said, You know what that means? Between Easter and Passover, this is truly the season of miracles. We're number two! I've been saying for the last week that NBC is a big number two.
