Lennon's Abbey Road Suit Sells For $46,000
An outfit worn by John Lennon on the cover of THE Beatles' famous ABBEY ROAD album has sold for a massive $46,000 (£30,667).
The late musician was seen wearing the white suit in the iconic photograph, which showed the bandmembers stepping out on a pedestrian crossing in London.
The wool-blend blazer and trousers, made by French designer Ted Lapidus, sold at auction in Connecticut on New Year's Day (01Jan11) to an anonymous bidder.
A Chrysler station wagon once owned by Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono was also among the lots and sold for $5,500 (£3,667).
