Leisha Hailey - Leisha Hailey Booted Off Plane For 'Excessive' Kissing
Leisha Hailey, the American actress best known for her role as Alice Pieszecki on the 'L-Word', has called for a boycott of Southwest Airlines after she was kicked off a flight to St Louis for 'excessively' kissing her girlfriend, reports the Associated Press.
The actress was alerted by a flight attendant that passengers had complained about her public behaviour. In a statement, the Airlines suggested Hailey was approached "solely on behaviour and not gender" and asked to leave because Southwest is considered a "family" airline. The actress took to Twitter and called for a boycott of the carrier, telling followers, "I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers as 'family.' I know plenty of wonderful same-sex families I would like to introduce them to. Boycott @SouthwestAir if you are gay. They don't like us". The actress began her career as lead singer of THE MURMURS before joining the cast of 'The L Word' - a drama series about the lives of lesbian friends living in Los Angeles. She is the latest in a string of celebrities to encounter problems while travelling with Southwest Airlines. Last year, film director Kevin Smith was removed from a flight because he didn't fit properly into a single seat. Bizarrely, Green Day rocker Billie Joe Armstrong was thrown off a flight because his "pants sagged too low".
Hailey's show 'The L Word' ran for eight series on the Showtime network from 2004 to 2009.
