Leighton Meester Depressed By Song Writing
Leighton Meester found she was "depressed" after filming 'Country Strong'.
The 24-year-old actress was inspired to start penning her own songs after starring as beauty queen-turned-singer Chiles Stanton in the movie, and admits she was astonished by the feelings she channelled into her writing.
She said: "Because of this movie, I started doing that for myself and writing music that speaks to me and is from my heart and apparently, I'm really depressed."
Leighton was given a guitar as a gift from co-star Gwyneth Paltrow after shooting on the movie finished, and the 'Gossip Girl' star has enjoyed travelling with the instrument and writing new songs in unusual settings, though she doesn't feel in a rush to make her songs public.
She explained to website The Boot: "I just wrote a song at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The guitar has been a nice tool for me to be able to write. I want to release the music, but I'm not pressured to do it at the moment."
Leighton was unfamiliar with country music before working on the film, but says it is a genre she now loves.
She added: "It's country music, it's an entirely different world. I grew to love it, and I have this movie to thank for that."
