Leicester Square Hosts X Files Premiere
Based on the hugely popular TV series, the film sees David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their roles as FBI agents Mulder and Scully.
Both of the American actors were present at the premiere last night, signing autographs and posing for photos with fans.
The film, which opens in the UK tomorrow, took $10.2 million (£5.1 million) on its opening weekend in the US box office but has suffered slightly against the all-conquering Dark Knight.
A heavily pregnant Anderson told reporters in Leicester Square: "It's had a bit of a rough time in the States. It's opening against one of the highest grossing movies, Batman.
"People in the States are so used to lots of CGI, action and sex and we don't really offer a lot of that in this film."
Chris Aronson, from 20th Century Fox, told the Associated Press: "I read some X Files fan sites and the postings on there were incredibly positive about the film.
"The hardcore X Files fans, they're happy. And frankly, that's who the movie was made for."
