Leah Remini on Scientology Split: What's the Big Deal Y'all?
Leah Remini doesn't know what all the fuss is about.
Leah Remini, the American actress best known for The Talk, is bewildered by the attention focused on her split from the Church of Scientology.
"Leah really didn't understand how this would become a news story," a friend of the actress from her 'King of Queens' days told the Chicago Sun-Times. "That was a bit naïve of her, to be sure."
Another concern for Remini is the presumably false tabloid reports that her close friend Alley directed a menacing tweeted her way. On Wednesday, Alley tweeted, "When faced w[ith] malicious gossip I take a moment to experience the loss of the person I thought was my friend . Then I say f--- em . #RISE." It is understood that the tweet was NOT directed towards Remini and had nothing to do with the actress' split from the Church of Scientology.
When approached by Contactmusic.com, a spokesperson for the church said, "The Church respects the privacy of parishioners and has no further comment."
However, speaking "on a broader level," and not specifically on Ms Remini, the spokesman said, "We have read numerous allegations about the Church in the coverage of this story that are categorically false, alleging so-called policies and practices. The allegations of "interrogations" and "thought modification" are absurd and pure nonsense, as are all the statements made about the Church's leader, Mr. David Miscavige."
Leah Remini was one of the co-hosts on daytime CBS network talk show/series, The Talk, before leaving in 2011.
