Lawrence Was Thirsty Work For O'toole
Movie veteran PETER O'TOOLE still gets thirsty every time he thinks about film classic LAWRENCE OF ARABIA - because he was always parched on the set in Jordan.
The actor admits the desert scenes in the 1962 epic were tough to shoot - because it really was as hot as it looked on film.
He recalls, "You would need 16 pints of water per day to stay alive. We all lived on salt pills, which are the worst things in the world for you.
"When you get the shakes, somehow you get a pot of water and you put a spoonful of salt in it and stir it.
"If you can taste the salt you don't need it. If you can't taste the salt you have got about 10 minutes before you dry out and then you start bloating and you are gone."
