Law To Be Contacted By Fbi In Phone-hacking Inquiry
The Sherlock Holmes star is suing executives at embattled mogul Rupert Murdoch's company News International over claims his voicemail messages were improperly accessed while he was in New York in 2003.
The Brit's phone would have been operating on an American network and if the allegation is true, Murdoch's firm could face charges in the U.S.
Officials launched a preliminary inquiry into the allegation last week (end17Jul11) and now it has emerged the Fbi is widening the investigation and plans to talk to Law.
Representatives for News International have vehemently denied Law's accusation, which marks the first claim that phone-hacking occurred in the U.S.
Law is also one of several celebrities taking legal action against Murdoch's now-defunct News of the World, which closed earlier this month (Jul11) after 168 years in print.
