Lauryn Hill has announced her first UK show in five years. The former Fugees singer and rapper will be playing a one off show at Indigo2 in London on April 14th 2012; tickets will go on sale on March 23rd at 9am, through LiveNation.

Hill was the only female member of the Fugees, which also featured Wyclef Jean and Pras. The group are known for their cover of Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly With His Song, which they shortened to Killing Me Softly. The song appeared on their second and last album The Score.

After the hip hop group split in 1998, Hill released her debut solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The album was met with acclaim and was a commercial success. Hill was subsequently nominated for ten Grammys at the event in 1999; she won five, including Best Album and became the first female singer to receive that many nominations and awards in one night.

Her next album was a live one: MTV Unplugged No. 2.0, which was released in 2002. Unlike her previous album, Hill's live album was more personal and received mixed reviews.

Hill was the subject of controversy for many years, due to her outspoken nature. She reunited with the Fugees in 2005 and went on tour but relationships between the trio were strained. Despite all this, Hill has toured consistently. Her most recent performance was at the Warner Theatre in Washington DC this year, where she debuted a new song called Fearless Vampire Killer.
