Lauren Scruggs 'Feeling Good' After Propeller Accident
09 August 2012She stopped by the Today show in London on Thursday morning (August 9, 2012) to speak about her astonishing recovery. The model told host Savannah Guthrie, "I'm feeling good.Physically, it's good that I'm off all my pain meds and all medication. I haven't had pain since January, so that's a blessing. And emotionally, days are hard sometimes, just accepting the loss of my eye and hand, but it just gets better. I realize God's in control of my life and there's a purpose ... Spiritually I learned to live by faith, not sight". Scruggs will tell her story in a book coming out in November, which she says will share her "message of hope", adding, "I know a lot of people have been following the story ... and it's good to be out in public as I am, letting people know I'm OK". Scruggs said she had travelled to the UK for the Olympics because she is inspired by the perseverance of the athletes. At that point, 16-year-old American gymnast Gabby Douglas appeared in the studio, giving Lauren a hug and saying, "This means so much to me.Keep staying strong.Keep shining".
At the time of her horrific accident, Scruggs was travelling to view the Christmas lights in the Dallas area.
