Larry Hagman - Larry Hagman Diagnosed With Cancer, Vows To Keep Shooting 'Dallas'
Larry Hagman has revealed he is battling cancer, but says he will continue shooting the new series of Dallas. Hagman, best known for playing JR Ewing in the classic television series, has assured fans it is a "very common and treatable form" of the disease and he is ready to beat it.
In a statement to TV Guide, the 80-year-old actor joked, "As JR, I could get away with anything - bribery, blackmail and adultery. But I got caught by cancer". Despite the diagnoses, Hagman is showing no signs of slowing up and has no plans to pull out of the upcoming series. He said, "I will be receiving treatment while working on the new Dallas series. I could not think of a better place to be than working on a show I love, with people I love", defiantly adding, "Besides, as we all know, you can't keep JR down". The new Tnt series focuses on the younger 'Ewings' family as they clash over the future direction of the family. The diagnosis is the latest in a string of health problems for Hagman who underwent a life-saving liver transplant in 1995 after revealing his days of heavy drinking.
Hagman was the only actor to appear in all 357 instalments of Dallas, between 1978 and 1991, including the famous 'Who shot JR?' episode.
