Lana Del Rey - Lana Del Rey's Quick Set Leaves Some Fans Frustrated
Lana Del Rey left some fans frustrated during a Fourth of July concert at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland on Wednesday. Gig-goers had paid $80 for a ticket to the evening concert, though one of the evening's star attractions played for just 45 minutes, and failed to return for an encore, reports Reuters.
The set-list saw Del Rey mainly playing songs from her hit album 'Born to Die', including 'Blue Jeans' and 'Million Dollar Man'. Fittingly, she finished with 'National Anthem', though some fans thought the concert was too brief, especially considering the singer failed to show for an encore. Dany Faigaux said, "It was very good, but 45 minutes is a little light. She didn't even introduce the musicians". Before playing her final song, Del Rey had told the crowd, "I hope you liked it, we're happy to be here on the 4th of July", before abruptly adding, "ok guys, we'll see you". Another fan who had travelled all the way from Britain added, "It was a bit short, I would have listened longer. The supporting act was too long", though nevertheless added, "She was amazing, mesmerizing". It's been a phenomenal year for Del Rey, who tasted success in both the U.S and in Europe. Her record 'Born to Die' is the third biggest seller of 2012 in the UK, behind Adele's '21' and Emeli Sande's 'Our Version of Events'. She was also named as the International Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards in February.
The 46th edition of Montreux - one of the Europe's most prestigious festivals - also included performances from the likes of Bob Dylan, Hugh Lauer, and a disco evening produced by MARK RONSON.
