Lana Del Rey Hits Back At Critics Over 'Saturday Night Live' Performance

Lana Del Rey has hit back at critics who ripped into her performance on a recent episode of 'Saturday Night Live,' stating that she was perfectly happy with her rendition of first 'Video Games' and then 'Blue Jeans.' The burgeoning pop star has been the centre of a music press storm since 'Video Games' first came to prominence last year, with many struggling to reconcile with the fact that Del Rey had received a previous label push years previously under her real name of LIZZY GRANT. The resultant hubbub has only heightened with the leak of the singer's album 'Born To Die' ahead of its release date, and there was an odd sense of malicious glee being taken from what was perceived by Nbc anchor Brian Williams to be "one of the worst outings in 'SNL' history" according to Gawker.
There was no denying that Del Rey's performance was weak, and it's something many have pointed to when explaining why she subsequently dropped out of an Mtv performance at London's Brixton Academy as well as cancelling a slew of other dates. However, speaking to Rolling Stone, the star said "The cast and crew said they loved it. I know some people didn't like it, but that's just the way I perform, and my fans know that."
In a short conversation with the music publication, she also offered There's backlash about everything I do. It's nothing new. When I walk outside, people have something to say about it. It wouldn't have mattered if I was absolutely excellent. People don't have anything nice to say about this project. I'm sure that's why you're writing about it." Clearly all is not well within the Del Rey camp.
