Lana Del Rey - Lana Del Rey Breaks Silence On Saturday Night Live Performance

Singer Lana Del Rey has opened up about her recent performance on Saturday Night Live, explaining that she 'doesn't love live television.' Her appearance on the hit sketch show marked the singer's network TV debut but, despite a warm reception from the studio audience, critics and viewers slammed the performance of her debut single Video Games.
Throughout her performance, Del Rey gave what Mtv News describes as 'a vocally shaky' performance, while looking 'nervous and detached.' Many celebrities and TV personalities tweeted about Del Rey's performance. Juliette Lewis wrote: "Wow watching this 'singer' on Snl is like watching a 12-year-old in their bedroom when they're pretending to sing and perform", although she has since deleted that tweet. Eliza Dushku wasn't as harsh but was equally critical, tweeting, " Who.....is.....this wack-a-doodle chick performing on Snl..? Whaaaa?". Despite the negative criticism, there are those who jumped to Del Rey's defence - in particular, guest host Daniel Radcliffe, who thought it was 'unfortunate that people seemed to turn on her so quickly.' He also added to the Bbc: 'I don't think [the performance] warranted anywhere near that reaction.'
Until now, Del Rey has not spoken about her appearance on Saturday Night Live but now she has admitted that she doesn't like performing on live television. Speaking to the Fuse network only days before her performance, she warned that 'you can't expect too much from my show. I don't love [performing on] live television. My only tip is to pray and hope things work out.'Del Rey has already caused controversy about her past - previously known as Lizzy Grant, she released an EP under that name but it has since been pulled from iTunes for unknown reasons. Her debut album under her current name, Born to Die, is expected to be released at the end of January 2012.
