Lana Del Rey Announced As New Face Of H&m

Lana Del Rey has been made the new face of H&M, according to the New York Post. It seems that the 'Video Games' singer has responded shrewdly to accusations that her work has a little more 'style' than 'substance,' by embracing the stylish world of fashion. And the world of fashion, it seems, has responded in kind, by taking Miss Del Rey under their wing.

Prior to this appointment by H&M, Mulberry designed a bag named after Lana, which promptly sold out. They also invited her to be the star of their London Fashion Week dinner party back in February, where she sang live for those in attendance. Fashion guru Christopher Kane also selected her hit song 'Video Games' as the soundtrack to his fall 2012 catwalk show. Fashion magazines have all been clamouring for a slice of the songstress, too. She's appeared on the covers of Vogue in Britain and Japan, as well as French Glamour and i-D magazine. Now that she has a high street ad campaign, courtesy of H&M on the horizon, Lana Del Rey has quickly notched up the kind of fashion career that most models would give their skinny right arm for. Not bad, considering she only emerged on the scene late last year.

If only the music industry could take so warmly to Lana Del Rey. Following the release of Video Games last year, many had high hopes for the American chanteuse. Until, that is, she started singing. Despite the success of 'Video Games,' it seems that Lana Del Rey lacks the punch to continue the momentum that her debut single promised. If she wants to remain in the public eye, she may have to settle for a life as a fashion designer's muse.
