Randy Blythe - Lamb Of God Star Fuming Over Failed Show Silence For Shooting Victims
Rocker Randy Blythe has lashed out at Lamb Of God fans in an online rant after audience members at the band's show in Oregon on Friday (14Dec12) failed to respect a minute's silence for the victims of the Connecticut massacre.
The group took to the stage in Medford just hours after a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, killing 20 kindergarten students and six staff members. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Adam Lanza, then allegedly turned the firearm on himself.
Frontman Blythe called for 60 seconds of silence during the concert, but several gig-goers failed to comply, and the singer has now criticised the noisy offenders in a post on his Instagram account.
He writes, "I have never been more disgusted with an audience in my life. I wish we hadn't played. We, Lamb Of God, asked for sixty seconds of silence during our first set break to honour the dead children and teachers in Connecticut. It seemed appropriate - it's a goddamned national tragedy.
"Most of the crowd complied, but several didn't, some cursing and even laughing. I wanted to walk off stage. I am so disgusted right now. If you were one of those who wouldn't shut up for sixty lousy seconds to honour 20 murdered children, go look in the mirror. You are looking at a piece of s**t. Your parents are obviously pieces of s**t too, because they raised you to behave with no dignity.
"To the fans who were respectful, I thank you. I am also sorry you have so many goddamned a**holes in your community. You should do something about that... I am just disgusted. Thoroughly disgusted. You yelling people give metal a bad name... You give humanity a bad name. Grow up."
