Lakshmi Visited Orphans To Get Over Split

SALMAN RUSHDIE's model-actress ex-wife PADMA LAKSHMI threw herself into charity work to help her get over their split last year (07). The 37-year-old suffered depression after the collapse of her three-year marriage to the best-selling author - until she realise there were others worse off. Lakshmi began working with charity Act Now India, and visited an AIDS orphanage in her homeland. She says, "I thought to myself, 'Hey, if anything, this will keep me from just lying there crying all day. "I realised, 'OK, I don't have it worse than these people.' I should just get over myself."
