Lady Gaga Upsets Thai Fans With Bangok Rolex Gag
When she arrived in Bangkok, Lady Gaga uploaded a comment onto her Twitter profile, which is followed by more than 24 million Twitter users around the globe, which suggested that she was more interested in picking up some counterfeit goods than she was in embracing the country's rich culture. "I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex." The Thai DJ Surahit Siamwalla took offence to her comments, saying "We are more civilized than you think." Siamwalla had a ticket to tonight's show (May 24, 2012) but is thinking of boycotting the conference after reading Gaga's comments.
According to the Daily Mail, other commentators of the Thai message-board pantip.com were equally outraged, with one saying "She came to our home, but instead of admiring us she insulted us." A little while ago, however, the Born This Way singer has posted a more considered message on the micro-blogging site, saying "I'm so excited to perform tonight. I saw the most amazing show in Bangkok, time for you to see mine ladies! This city is one of my favorites."
