Lady Gaga - Lady Gaga Thanks Politician For Support
Lady Gaga has addressed a political row in her native New York which was sparked by her weed-puffing antics onstage earlier this month (Sep12).
Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro was infuriated about the star's behaviour after she lit up what looked like a spliff at a show in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and labelled Gaga a "slut" during a recent anti-drugs talk.
He told the audience, "Stop glorifying the drug use. There's Gaga. Here's this... I would call her a slut. This slut is influencing many, many children... and (saying) it's right to do. It's fine, it's part of it."
His comments irked Manhattan rival Scott Stringer, who is a friend of Gaga's parents and is aiming to become New York's next mayor.
Stringer defended the Poker Face hitmaker's "artistic expression", adding, "In addition to her artistic pursuits, she is a social justice activist and a real leader for marriage equality in this country, and no matter which continent Gaga happens to be in today, she remains an Upper West Sider at heart."
Gaga took to her Twitter.com blog on Thursday (27Sep12) to thank Stringer for his support, writing, "To scottmstringer of Manhattan, thanku (sic) for your support of my activism as a new yorker. You show political integrity (and) a modern vernacular."
