Lady Gaga - Lady Gaga Slammed For Claiming "Pop Singers Don't Eat"
Lady Gaga has provoked controversy after writing "pop singers don't eat" in a tweet to her 22 million Twitter followers. The Born This Way - who is deemed hugely influential thanks to her strong digital following - has been accused of promoting a negative message and encouraging eating disorders, according to the Press Association.
Her message came following a trip to the gym this week, she said, "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger PopSingersDontEat IWasBornThisWay". However, some of her usually devoted fans began hitting out at the star's words, with one writing, "I'm stunned that you would promote such an unhealthy attitude towards food to your fans when you claim to be so righteous". Another wrote, "Why would you even promote a message like that? Disgusting that you'd joke about such a serious illness". Gaga is yet to respond to the criticism, simply telling followers the following day, "Leaving for Korea in less than a week!!!! Wearing my favorite t shirt today. It might be the raddest ever". The superstar singer is set to perform at Seoul's Olympic Stadium later this month, before heading to the UK for shows at London's Twickenham Stadium and Manchester Arena.
The comments come just months after Lady Gaga revealed she battled the eating disorder bulimia as a youngster. Speaking at the young women's conference hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger's estranged wife Maria Shriver, Gaga claimed she used to "purge" so much that is almost affected her singing career.
