Lady Gaga Forced To Cancel Her Biggest Tour Date So Far
Promoters have been forced to cancel Lady GaGa's show in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta amidst extremist demonstrations against the singer, making this cancellation the biggest she's been forced to make so far on the Asian leg of her tour.
Members of extremist pressure groups, namely the Islamic Defenders Front, held up placards calling Lady Gaga a "messenger of the devil" and vowed to turn out at the airport by the thousands if she tried to step off the plane. Other radicals admitted to buying tickets to Born This Way Ball tour solely so they could wreak havoc during the pop diva's concert from inside the 52,000-seat stadium in the capital city, The Sun newspaper reports.
Minola Sebayang, a lawyer for the shows promoters Big Daddy, told reporters that: "It's unfortunate. But with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling it off. This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."
Whilst cancelling the seems to be the most sensible thing to do, certain would-be gig-goers have voiced their criticism of the poor handling of the radical criticism by the country's government and security forces. Members of the public have used the cancelation to point out that the police forces are afraid of hard-liners and the cancelation is a clear indication of some of the country's ills.
