Lady Gaga Dedicates Song To Royal Couple At Radio 1'S Big Weekend
The Poker Face hitmaker headlined the two-day music extravaganza, which also saw The Strokes and the Foo Fighters perform in Carlisle, England (14-15May11).
Gaga took the opportunity to honour the royal couple, who wed last month (Apr11), after arriving on stage in a gold coffin.
The superstar began singing a version of Nat King Cole's Orange Colored Sky, changing the lyrics in tribute to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
She told the crowd, "I actually spent a little time when I was in the United States... wishing I was at the royal wedding. Perhaps it's because it's my dream, like everyone else, to be the wife of a handsome prince. Instead I get stuck with these guys in tight pants and bad attitudes. So I changed the words to Orange Coloured Sky just a little bit as an ode to our sweet Miss Kate Middleton and Prince William."
Gaga then sang the words, "She was walking along, minding her business/When out of that orange coloured sky/Flash, bam, alacazam, a handsome prince came by... Kate was humming a tune, drinking in sunshine/When out of that cool St Andrews view/Wham, bam, alacazam, she got a look at you."
