Lady Gaga Branded A ‘Slut’ By Staten Island Borough President

Lady GaGa has been branded a slut by the Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro. Molinaro made the comments during the launch of a campaign that will focus on “getting teens away from drugs and alcohol.” According to NY1.com, James Molinaro made the comments whilst he was speaking about the glorification of drugs in the media. Using recent shots of Lady Gaga sparking up a joint onstage in Amsterdam, Molinaro said “To me, she's not an actress, she is a slut in the pure, in the pure meaning of the word.” NY1 asked Lady Gaga to comment on Molinaro’s opinion but received no response.

That’s probably because she’s been too busy defending herself against media criticism over her weight. She’s calling on her fans and followers to join her ‘Body Revolution’ and in keeping with the ethos of her song ‘Born This Way’ and the charitable foundation that it spawned, Gaga is encouraging people to ignore the stringent expectations placed upon us by the media and simply learn to love our bodies as they are. On the Lady Gaga Twitter page today, there is a message to say “Please sign up for little ‪http://monsters.com and join A BODY REVOLUTION” as she tries to put an end to the derogatory Lady Gaga Fat headlines.

Already Gaga’s fans have been rallying in support and we can’t help thinking that James Molinaro will have a hard time getting the rest of the US to boycott her sponsors, as he suggested that people should do. He may have a valid argument regarding the portrayal of drug use in the media but branding Lady Gaga a “slut” probably isn’t the best way to bring about change.
