Lady Antebellum Stars' Cancer Agony
Country trio LADY ANTEBELLUM felt compelled to perform at Friday's (10Sep10) Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon after their lives were touched by the killer disease.
The group will play with Kris Kristofferson on the show, which will be aired on multiple channels in the U.S. in a bid to raise funds for cancer sufferers.
And the trio has very personal reasons for taking part in the fundraiser - singer Charles Kelley's father-in-law was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, while a family pal of bandmate Hillary Scott is "fighting for her life".
Kelley tells E! Online, "It was pretty scary. But he's (father-in- law) fighting it right now. They shrunk it down to almost nothing. He's doing really good, right back out working."
Scott adds, "I think so much of it is being able to rally together with your friends and family. And having that fighting spirit of mind over matter and doing everything you can do to stay healthy."
The band will be joined by fellow performers including Leona Lewis, Queen Latifah, Martina MCBride, Billie Joe Armstrong and Neil Diamond, while George Clooney, Will Smith, Gwyneth Paltrow, Denzel Washington and Renee Zellweger will help present the show.
The Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon will be aired live in the U.S. on Friday.
