Clive Davis - L.a. Reid To Be Honoured At Pre-grammy Awards Bash
Clive Davis will salute fellow music mogul Antonio 'l.A.' Reid at his upcoming annual pre-Grammy Awards party.
The X Factor judge has been named as the recipient of the President's Merit Award, which is bestowed annually by members of The Recording Academy, the organisation behind the Grammys.
Reid will be presented with the prize during Davis' annual pre-Grammy party in February (13).
Neil Portnow, President/Ceo of The Recording Academy, says in a statement, "We are thrilled to once again collaborate with Clive Davis on this legendary gala filled with unique performances and stories. With his keen ability to foster and guide young artists, Antonio 'L.A.' Reid has brought to the world some of the most accomplished and beloved musicians. We are delighted and excited to pay tribute to this luminary who has shaped the contemporary music landscape with his passion, diversity, dedication, and musical judgement."
Previous recipients of the award include Davis himself, along with music industry veterans Berry Gordy, David Geffen and the late Ahmet Ertegun.
The 2012 winner was British businessman Sir Richard Branson, but the last gala was overshadowed by the tragic death of Davis' protege Whitney Houston. The superstar drowned in the bathroom of her suite at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles just hours before she was due to attend the bash downstairs.
The gala will return to the hotel on 9 February (13).
