Local paper the Dominion Post reports the owner of the adult business in the city of Wellington received a letter from the singer's lawyers urging him to remove what looks like a photograph of her from his shop window.
The Can't Get You Out Of My Head star's attorneys have said the use of the singer's image on the premises gave a "misleading impression" she approved of its activities.
Kylie's lawyers have given the proprietor of Santa Fe Dreamgirls three days to cooperate with the request and have threatened legal proceedings otherwise.
However strip club owner Garth Rosson said the picture of a girl in a wet top had been downloaded off the internet. He added he saw no resemblance to the 39-year-old celebrity.
Mr Rosson, who has complied with the request, said: "I'm not convinced, eh? What would a nice girl like Kylie be doing in a wet top like that?"
He added he would be keep in touch with the star's legal team to ascertain whether the photograph was in fact authentic. But he stated he didn't want to do anything to upset the performer, who has been known to sport racy images in her videos, during the holidays.
"We wouldn't want to hassle Kylie, or upset her. Not at Christmas anyway," he added.
