Speaking on Ellen Degeneres' chat show on US TV, the singer said: "Because someone is in a white coat and using big medical instruments doesn't necessarily mean they're right."
After seeing the first doctor Kylie claimed she continued with her Showgirl tour because she had been informed that she was not ill and said that she had heard similar stories of women being misdiagnosed.
The Australian singer also called for women who suspected they were ill to return to the doctors for a second opinion.
But in a statement today the 39-year-old singer said she has "a great respect for the medical profession" and thanked the "countless people" who had helped her since her diagnosis.
She went on: "I am in the very best of hands now, but it is a fact that my initial diagnosis was that I was 'alright, and had nothing to worry about'.
"A few weeks later this was clearly not the case.
"Early diagnosis and prompt treatment is the key for any woman diagnosed with breast cancer."
Kylie, 39, first announced that she had breast cancer in 2005.
Her current album X has reached number four in the UK album chart.
