Kylie Minogue Added To Proms In The Park Bill
Kylie Minogue has been added to the BBC Proms bill as the annual classical music festival continues to stretch its cross over links with the world of popular music. Minogue will take part at the Proms In The Park event in London's Hyde Park and will be accompanied by the BBC Orchestra Concert for her show in what will hopefully be a glorious marriage of the Australian star's back catalogue and classical music.
In a statement, reported by The Press Association, Minogue said "I'm delighted to be performing at one of the UK's most outstanding nights of the musical calendar, and to sing in front of thousands of people whilst being accompanied by the legendary BBC Concert Orchestra in such a special year is truly a dream come true."
The event, now in its 17th year, will be hosted by BBC Radio 2 presenters Tony Blackburn and SIR TERRY WOGAN, the latter saying "To have the Princess of Pop herself, Kylie Minogue, performing in Hyde Park promises to make the concert an unforgettable spectacle." Since the BBC Electric Proms stopped in 2010 as a result of financial cut backs, it's been hard for the organisers to re-engage with the popular music audience, however by getting someone like Kylie in to their main program it looks like they'll more than rebuild those ties.
