Kurt Cobain - Kurt Cobain's Lyrics Were Inspirational Says Lil Wayne
19 September 2011Discussing former stars of the 'Unplugged' stage, Lil Wayne singled out Nirvana as a key band during his childhood, saying, "I was a real big fan of that". The rapper claimed it was rare for 'rock and roll videos' to appear on cable television station 'The Box', but could identify with the Seattle band's biggest commercial hit, saying, "Smells Like Teen Spirit' was one of the only rock songs that would come on, and you'll be like, That one is OK, I can deal with that one". The 'Cash Money' rapper, who now plays guitar and is readying a rock inspired album, says he identified with Cobain's lyrics, saying, "I probably felt at that time that I was rebelling and I could associate myself with that and relate to the things [Cobain] was talking about and speaking about in the song.I probably couldn't, but I thought I could".
Nirvana's definitive album celebrates its 20th anniversary this week. 1991 is often regarded as a key year in the history of rock - as well as 'Nevermind', Pearl Jam released 'Ten' and My Bloody Valentine's 'Loveless' also hit shelves.
