Kristen Wiig's 'Bridesmaids' Makes Strong Box Office Debut
'Bridesmaids' starring Kristen Wiig has exceeded expectations with a strong box office debut.
The Judd Apatow comedy turned in $24.4 million in its first weekend, coming second only to 'Thor' which generated an impressive $34.5 million in its second weekend.
'Saturday Night Live' star Kristen stars as Annie, who struggles with her maid of honour duties in the run-up to her best friend's wedding.
The movie, which also stars Maya Rudolph, has been marketed as a raunchy all-girls caper and is enjoying immediate popularity.
Kristen recently said she identifies with Annie because she feels like she's the only one of her friends who isn't married with children.
She said: "Being an actor and going on auditions and having odd jobs, in my late 20s and early 30s, and then going back to my hometown and visiting people that have houses and babies and cars, I'm like, 'What's wrong with me?'
"I can totally relate to that part of it."
