Kravitz Leads Benefit For Louisiana Oil Slick
LENNY KRAVITZ is spearheading efforts to protect the Louisiana coastline from an oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico - the rocker has signed up to headline a benefit concert to raise money for relief efforts.
Local businesses and wildlife are under threat after a BP rig collapsed and sent a massive oil spillage drifting towards the state's shoreline.
U.S. government officials have declared the British firm will be liable to cover the clean-up costs, but many fear the total cost to the local economy will never be paid.
Kravitz, who has a home in New Orleans, Louisiana, has now signed up to help raise money for those affected by the disaster - he will headline a benefit concert in the city on Sunday (16May10).
Rapper Mos Def will also perform at the event at Mardi Gras World River City, along with Ani DiFranco and and Allen Toussaint.
