Knopfler Ditches Headbands

DIRE STRAITS frontman MARK KNOPFLER has ditched his trademark headbands for live performances. The BROTHERS IN ARMS hitmaker only wore the head gear to soak up the sweat generated by blazing stage lighting, but advances in technology has seen the introduction of lighting which gives off far less heat. He says, "I stopped needing headbands when new stage lights came in that don't generate heat. "I don't pour with sweat anymore. I've given most of them to charity."
