Knightley Got Drunk For My Fair Lady Audition
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY won her lead part in the forthcoming MY FAIR LADY remake by arriving at the audition drunk.
The British actress was so anxious about meeting theatre impresario Cameron MACkintosh to try out for the part, she turned to alcohol to calm her nerves.
She recalls, "It was in front of Cameron himself, so the only option was to get drunk. I probably did slur my words - I can't remember."
But the tactic appeared to work - as Knightley was subsequently cast as Eliza Doolittle, the flower girl made famous by Audrey Hepburn, opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in a updated version of the 1964 musical .
