Kirk Cameron - Kirk Cameron Mocked By Nikki Sixx Over Gay-marriage Remarks

The actor Kirk Cameron has sparked outrage with his comments on same-sex marriage. In an interview with Piers Morgan on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, and a number of celebrities have spoken out against his comments, with Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx branding Cameron as "Kirk Cameron, a**hole of the week" on his Twitter page. The former Growing Pains actor told Piers that he "doesn't support the idea" of same-sex marriage and that "it's unnatural, it's detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."

Cameron's former Growing Pains co-stars have also spoken out against his comments. Alan Thicke took to his own Twitter account to say "I'll address kirk's comments as soon as I recover from rush limbaugh's" before adding "I'm getting him some new books. The Old Testament simply can't be expected to explain everything" and "I love Kirk but I may have to spank him...'tho not in a gay way!" Tracey Gold, who played Kirk's on-screen sister, took a more serious line, saying "I am a strong supporter of the Lgbt Community, and I believe in equal rights for all. Noh8 Love."

Glaad (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) have condemned Cameron's conservative views, saying that he "sounds even more dated than his 1980s TV character." And talking of 1980s TV characters, Roseanne Barr added her own opinion to the social networking mix, saying "Kirk or kurt or whatever Cameron is an accomplice to murder with his hate speech."
