King Of Tonga Dies In Hospital

George Tupou V, the king of Tonga, has died, aged 63.

He died at a hospital in Hong Kong on Sunday (18Mar12), according to Tongan government officials.

A cause of death has not been released.

Crown Prince Tupouto'a Lavaka, who was with his father when he passed away, is to become the South Pacific nation's monarch.

George V ascended to the throne in 2006 following the death of his father, Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV.
