Killers And Coldplay Confirmed For One-off War Child Show

by | 28 January 2009

Coldplay and the Killers will take to the stage for an exclusive charity concert next month, it has been announced.

The two bands have signed up for a one-off show in aid of the War Child charity, which aids children in wartorn regions.

Tickets for the Shepherds Bush Empire show are priced at £50 each and are to be sold through a lottery system on January 30th.

Fans eager to attend the prestigious show can enter the ballot at 09:00 on that day on the War Child website to win the chance to attend the February 18th concert.

In a statement, Coldplay said: "In our eyes, War Child is one of the world's most important charities, and The Killers are one of our favourite bands, so playing this concert is an absolute pleasure for us."

The Killers added: "Coldplay were one of the bands that gave us hope when we were just four boys in a garage. To share the stage with them for the War Child cause is an honour."

The gig is being held to commemorate the 15th anniversary of War Child and the release of Heroes, the charity's new covers album.

Tracks featured on the record include Duffy's cover of Live and Let Die, Mercury winners Elbow taking on U2's Running To Stand Still and covers from the likes of Lily Allen, Hot Chip and TV on the Radio.

The last War Child album - Help! A Day in the Life - featured tracks by Coldplay, the Manic Street Preachers and Radiohead.
